Kid ID was invented by an orthodontist and his commitment to the health and well-being of children is something that all doctors share. Since its inception, this group of dedicated doctors has been committed to making each of their communities safer through Kid ID.

How do I have my child's information updated?
The Center for Missing and Exploited Children recommends you update your child's picture, fingerprints and pertinent data every year. Contact the Kid ID doctor where you had your child I.D.'d to set up an appointment and update your child's card. All other information can be updated at that time.

Who started KID ID?
KID-ID was started in 1994 in New Iberia, Louisiana by Dr. Bobby Chastant. As an active member of his community, Dr. Chastant was aware that his community did not have an organized manner to properly ID all children. At the time, only ink and paper finger printing was done at business promotions and fairs. He started researching computer technology and digital photography and electronic finger printing. Over the years, Dr. Chastant has perfected his original ideas with the KID ID program. In fact, it is recognized as an outstanding new process by the Sheriff's office and the local school board. To date, Dr. Chastant has protected over 20,000 children in Iberia, Vermillion, St. Mary and Lafayette Parishes.

Dr. Chastant is an active member of the American Association of orthodontics.
