How Kid ID Works

Your local doctor offers KID-ID in your community as a free service. The doctor takes your child's photo and fingerprints and submits them to Kid ID. It's a great way to protect your family, but completing the DNA sampling is an important next step.

When you receive your kit, you will also receive a DNA sampling packet, complete with instructions on how to swab the inside of your child's mouth to get a good sample - and what to do next.

Keep your child's I.D. card in your purse or wallet. The FBI recommends updating your child's information 1-2 times per year and most participating offices offer this updating service free of charge as well.

If your child ever becomes lost or missing, locate your Kid ID card, call 911 and provide them with your child's information or, if needed, and with your permission, KID-ID will send your child's information to the police within minutes.
